Adriana is a Colombian-born multidisciplinary artist and Spanish educator based in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Her written and visual work explores gender expectations, migration and memory, as well as environmental concerns. Her academic work revolves around mythology, the monstrous, and the intersection between art, memory, and otherness, elements that she also weaves into her art and poetry.
Adriana is a self-taught artist and has a Ph.D. in Hispanic & Lusophone Literatures, Cultures, and Linguistics from the University of Minnesota. She was awarded the Victoria Urbano Poetry Prize (USA) in 2011 and Voces nuevas (Spain) in 2014, and her recent unpublished poetry book was a finalist in the 2026 Paz Prize for Poetry (USA).
Her visual and installation work has been exhibited in Minnesota, Nebraska, New Orleans, and Texas. She has published a picture book, Sofi descubre las palabras (2026), and two poetry books, El tiempo al revés (2025) and Hereticum (2024). Her literary and academic work has also been published in Latin American and U.S. journals.
